ABSTRACT

For centuries, claims have been made that EMFs from natural sources such as loadstones or EMFs from man-made static and time-varying sources have therapeutic efficacy. Such fields have been used to treat almost every conceivable human illness or malady, and it is not surprising to find amongst them many inflammatory diseases such as arthritis or psoriasis. Likewise, EMF therapy has always been associated with pain reduction and accelerated healing, and it is possible that EMFs might exert these effects by regulating processes involved in inflammation and autoimmune diseases. Inflammation is a cascade of physiological processes instigated by the body to repair cellular damage in vascularized tissues and to restore the tissue to its normal function.
