ABSTRACT

Using the mortar-limestone’s cylinder specimen provided by the gravity dam in the hydro-power project in Wanjiazhai at Shanxi, the uniaxial compression test of limestone and the direct shear test of two-phase brittle material cemented plane of mortar-limestone were performed by using the RMT – 150B geomechanics multifunctional rigidity servo testing machine. The elastic modulus, Poisson ratio of limestone, and shear strength of two-phase material cemented plane have been obtained. Based on the concept of stress intensity factor, the relation formula, among cemented plane’s intensive parameter, specimen dimension, and elastic modulus is also set up. Furthermore, the compressive – shear fracture criterion is put forward, which can offer a theoretical basis for estimating dam body and its field stability.
