ABSTRACT

The law of the surface deformation induced by exploiting the underground coal in the mining area was predicted and the response of the bridge body and foundation to the additional load caused by the subsidence was analyzed in this paper. The bridge state under the working condition was evaluated by measurement using dynamic strain gauges. The changes of the bridge state during the subsidence were monitored using static strain gauges. The methods to enforce the bridge was proposed and implemented in this project. When the bridge subsided by 4 m steadily, there was no interruption of transportation by means of reinforcing method. This practice indicates that the method is effective for reinforcement of bridge and has some advantages, such as protecting farmlands, economizing the resources, cutting down the cost.
