ABSTRACT

Some of these conditions such as radiation-induced carotid stenosis present a formidable challenge for the surgeon in terms of surgical anatomy and consequent complications. Therefore, angioplasty and stenting is a potentiallyattractive treatmentoption for somenon-atherosclerotic conditions. Since the non-atherosclerotic causes of carotid disease are relatively uncommon, the literature consists of essentially small case series. We shall review the experience to date on the use of angioplasty and stenting for some of these conditions.
