ABSTRACT

Aging can be defined as a time-dependent decrease in the ability of an organism to maintain homeostasis or react to external and internal changes (1, 2). Therefore, aging can be highlighted by a loss of functionality and resistance or adaptability to stress that leads to increased susceptibility of individuals to age-associated diseases. In developed countries, the large majority of the aging population die of degenerative diseases such as cancers and cardiovascular diseases, which account for almost 50% of all deaths in persons 85 years and older (3).
