ABSTRACT

The hill lies to north of the theatre and the river, to the west of it is another hill on which are many old walls and some cromlechs ; the valley winds between the hills and is met by another valley in the middle of the town. One road runs to Salt, another goes east passing by the Haj railway about three miles away and pushing on either up the old Pilgrims' route to the north or straight across the desert to Bosra. Still another, the old Roman road, leads south to Heshbon.
