ABSTRACT
This chapter explores how quality improvement activities based upon various accreditation programs and regulatory avenues impact the healthcare system in the United States. The analysis also looks at the challenges confronting pharmaceutical services, particularly in managed care settings, when establishing voluntary quality standards and accreditation programs.
