ByDating Men Marriage

Numerous studies in the latter half of the twentieth century have shown that women who identify as gay or lesbian have similar life trajectories to straight women (e.g., Gagnon and Simon 1973). At the end of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century, scientific and academic wisdom made the opposite claim, that lesbians were more like men than like women. In this chapter it is perfectly clear that nearly half of these lesbians did have lives very familiar to straight women and men, because they were married.
