ABSTRACT

In the context of the wide diversity in factors influencing learning, many of today’s educational reports and reform initiatives are so narrowly focused that they seem to be a result of “tunnel vision.” Across all types of educational institutions, one seldom finds the generalist who advocates the integration of diverse areas of specialization in order to enhance learning. Even the new National Education Goals, which the Governors and the President are using to set the stage for thinking and allocating resources in the 21st century, are narrowly focused in some areas.
