First impressions are important, especially in computer applications. From the moment users open an application, they begin to learn about the program. When designing a multimedia application, think of the first few screens as a formal introduction, information that helps users begin to get to know your program. Opening the program to a meaningless, ambiguous, untitled screen does nothing to reassure users that they are even in the right program.
