ABSTRACT
The use of computers as tools of trade has become commonplace in many areas. In research on mathematical problem solving, computers have been used mostly for testing performance models. Their use as tools in investigating students’ processes and competencies in mathematical problem solving has hardly been explored. The purpose of this paper is to discuss computers as methodological tools in research on mathematical problem solving.
