ABSTRACT
As teachers we have a responsibility to ensure that pupils have the essential qualities and skills for employment, learning and life, in order to become employable. Employees value highly the skills of literacy/communication, numeracy, information (and communications) technology (IT/ICT), working with others/the ability to work in a team, being able to improve own learning and performance and being able to solve problems. Teachers also have a responsibility to ensure that pupils value and understand the importance of these skills and how they are transferable across different subject areas.
