An interactionist approach to intercultural management analysis

A great deal of effort has been dedicated by management scholars to the description and codifi cation of nationally determined business systems, cultures and management styles. The classical approach to culture in the fi elds of management and strategy could be defi ned as cartographic and is based on the measurement of so-called ‘cultural dimensions’. The project is to draw a map of cultures – along a set of measurable variables – and try to place every national business system and management style on a graph that could describe and codify this culture, preferably on a two by two grid.
