ABSTRACT

The present volume contains four chapters from leading experts and their collaborators in the study of expertise and skill acquisitions. The four papers are the product of the 36th Carnegie Symposium on Cognition entitled: “Expertise and Skill Acquisition: The Impact of William G. Chase.” Two of these contributions are theoretical perspectives (Posner, Chapter 11, and Beilock, Chapter 13), while the other two chapters (Anderson et al., Chapter 14, and Righi, Tarr, & Kingon, Chapter 12, in this volume) report empirical neuroimaging data investigating the neural correlates of skill acquisition.
