ABSTRACT

Technologies and instruments for 3D architectonical surveying – first of all digital photo-grammetry and laser scanning – changed traditional procedures, favouring restitutions made by 3D models. In consequence the theme of architectonical data modeling and visualizing become a very important focus of interest. Object of this paper is how 3D digital models can favour historic architecture representation and documentation. This research has been developed by the authors within the Research of Relevant National Interest PRIN COFIN 2008 “Complex models for architectonic and urban heritage”, principal investigator Mario Centofanti, financed by Italian Ministryfor University.Mario Centofanti wrote the 2nd and the 5th paragraph, Stefano Brusaporci the 3th and the 4th.
