ABSTRACT
Dupuytren’s disease (DD) is a benign but chronic and progressive disease characterized by the proliferation of contractile fibroblastic cells involving the palmar fascia, with knuckle pads (Garrods), palm nodules and cord contractures of the fingers. Guillaume Dupuytren was Napoleon’s surgeon; the condition had been previously described by others including Astley-Cooper.
