ABSTRACT
There is some disagreement about the relationship of Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) to erythema multiforme (EM). Some regard SJS as a severe form of EM (i.e. EM majus), but it has become apparent recently that despite the similarities, there are notable differences between SJS and EM (see Table 1). Older literature that does not make this distinction needs to be interpreted carefully.
