ABSTRACT

Introduction A variety of cell types, such as fetal or neonatal cardiomyocytes, skeletal muscle myoblasts, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), hematopoietic stem cells, adult cardiac resident stem cells, embryonic stem cells, and others, are potential cell sources for cell transplantation therapy in the heart (for review, see references 1 and 2). This chapter will focus on the bone marrow-derived MSCs in cardiac regeneration.
