ABSTRACT

Discovery of the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptors by Brown and Goldstein in 1976 facilitated aggressive research into the clinical implications and therapeutic modulation of lipid disorders.2 Several decades later, knowledge of basic physiologic concepts of lipoprotein metabolism remains critical to fully understanding the management of dyslipidemias.
