ABSTRACT

Surgery is the effective form of treatment of pelvic floor disorders when there is an anatomic defect. Any surgical procedure can result in immediate, delayed, general, or specific complications. Some complications are specific to pelvic surgeries like obstructive symptoms after anti-incontinence procedures and injuries of the surrounding structures. The female genital and urinary tracts are closely related, so the potential for injury to one must always be considered when operating on the other. Most complications are addressed in another chapter. The following are some of pelvic floor surgical procedures with their related complications.
