ABSTRACT
Direct effects of hypnotic drugs are therapeutic, the induction of sleep, or unwanted; the latter include residual effects the next day,2 and interactions with other drugs3 and alcohol. They occur, to a greater or lesser extent, with all these compounds. They can be troublesome to the point of limiting the dose.
