ABSTRACT

Answer: (d) Prospective studies have shown that some children carry a lifelong propensity towards UTI. One study found a greater incidence of bacteriuria during pregnancy among girls with a childhood history of bacteriuria as compared to healthy controls (64 % and 27 % , respectively). This propensity persisted in the children born to bacteriuric women, whereas none of the children born to healthy controls demonstrated bacteriuria.
