ABSTRACT
A 71-year-old woman presented with an eight-week history of a lump in the right breast. There was no associated nipple discharge but the patient had noticed recent inversion of the right nipple. The patient had no previous breast problems and had undergone a screening mammogram seven years earlier within the NHS Breast Screening Programme. There was no family history of breast or ovarian cancer. The patient had given birth to her first child at the age of 24 years and had never used either hormone replacement therapy or the oral contraceptive pill.
