ABSTRACT

Head and neck cancers are malignancies arising from the structures of the upper aerodigestive tract. They include cancers of the epithelium of the oral cavity, the pharynx (naso-, oro-, and hypopharynx), the larynx, nasal cavity and the paranasal sinuses ( Fig. 7.1 ). Other types of cancers in the head and neck region are tumors of the salivary glands, thyroid, and those originating in other tissues (1).
