ABSTRACT

The authors in this volume repeatedly tell stories and recount experiences that elicit interest, admiration, laughter, wonder, and understanding—and occasionally, sadness and grief. The contributors—who are of diverse races, nationalities, and ethnicities—hold different psychological theories, but all are united by their concern for love, service, and kindness. Each reader will have his or her favorites, ones that “speak” especially to them; although there are certain common themes and lessons to be derived. Let us consider a few.
