ABSTRACT

Multimedia, as the most recent source of innovation in information and communications technologies, has the potential to influence greatly the development of regional economies. Major efforts are being made in industrialized countries around the globe to benefit from this potential. As in the cases of earlier technological innovations, the emergence of multimedia industries will have both positive and negative effects on regional economic development and these effects will be distributed unevenly across regional economies. It is important, therefore, to monitor and analyse the different regional paths of development related to multimedia.
