ABSTRACT
Stories have always had the magic associated with growth and development in our lives, but they do more than entertain us. They frequently carry symbolic messages which otherwise would be rejected. Children are typically raised on stories, as we were. The stories ranged from those of Maurice Sendak to those I made up when our children were young. They still remember those stories as they continued on into adulthood.
