ABSTRACT

Before finally revisiting the arguments presented in this book, and considering possible future directions for policy and practice, it is worth considering the way in which the topic of sex offending is frequently discussed as if hermetically sealed and separate from other types of offences and offenders. This, we would suggest, is not particularly helpful, and we would argue that the roots of the current situation in terms of the attitudes and approaches to sex offending share common ground with similar developments in the wider system.
