ABSTRACT
Buildings and building-related activities are responsible for more than 40 per cent of global energy demand in the form of electricity and therefore carbon dioxide emissions (IPCC, 2007). Further, carbon dioxide emissions associated with existing buildings are estimated to be increasing, and are now an important policy and design issue for all governments around the world.
