ABSTRACT

The main aim of this research is to investigate the relevance of bioclimatic retrofitting in improving energy performance of existing buildings. The relevance of building scale is also included in any scope of this investigation. The study will seek to establish the relationship between bioclimatic design principles and building scale analysis. A practical outcome is a range of solution sets in building retrofitting strategies that form an integral and practical system of achieving energy efficiency for urban networks as well as individual buildings. The solution sets can also be utilised to implement green innovation and technology in a coordinated and multi-faceted manner. The research also seeks to evaluate any energy performance claims of sustainable design or innovation through post-occupancy consumption data analysis.
