The business of scuba diving

Introduction This chapter examines the scuba diving industry from a business and management perspective. The global growth in scuba diving demand experienced from the late twentieth into the twenty-fi rst century has created the need and interest to better understand factors surrounding the management of scuba diving tourism, to achieve economic and environmentally sustainable outcomes. In the scuba diving industry, the three main business foci are service delivery, the management of divers’ experience and the minimization of environmental impacts.
