ABSTRACT
This chapter contributes to the focus of the book on low-carbon technology transfers by putting those issues in the context of a wide range of subjects about the interaction of international trade and climate change issues. The chapter defines trade broadly to include not only trade in goods and services, but also direct investment and licensing. Such a broad definition is especially appropriate when discussing international technology transfers, as will be noted in more detail below.
