ABSTRACT
Welcome to the city of Tagajō, home to myself and my wife Machiko for some 20 years, and where our children grew up. Tagajō has a population 61,693 people, as of 30 April 2011. It is 20 minutes by local train east of Sendai, placing the city on the coast halfway by train between Sendai and the famous tourist site of Matsushima. To most foreign tourists, it is probably just another anonymous train stop slowing down their progress to their destination at Matsushima or elsewhere.
