On the morning of March 11 the Nikkei, Japan’s business daily, reported that Tobishima, a construction company living o public works projects, was cutting roughly a quarter of its workforce, about 380 employees. Another article explained that Sojitz, a big trading house, was preparing to export farmed bluefi n tuna to China, targeting its newly wealthy consumers. A third piece discussed the failure of fathers to take paternity leave: in Sweden more than 90 percent take time o from work, in Japan only 1 percent do.
