How can one attempt to bring a sense of unity to a heterogeneous, randomly gathered contemporary theatre audience? What, if they exist, are the essential forms, the fundamental proportions, of theatrical space without which basic relationships break down? What combination of spirit and matter needs to be added or isolated in order to bring to life such a gathering? How can a space feed and free the imagination without stopping it at a particular image or association?
