This paper explores the intersections of Tennessee Williams’ and Arthur Miller’s dramaturgical oeuvre with that of their key design collaborator Jo Mielziner, and introduces the impact the exchange of explicit and implicit visual, critical and dramatic prompts within their work had on the resultant production aesthetic of The Glass Menagerie (1945) and Death of a Salesman (1949).
