ABSTRACT

Skill acquisition is a complex process that is dependent on numerous factors such as the presentation of instructions, provision of feedback and the organization of practice schedules (Magill, 2011). Effective learning design is, therefore, critical to the retention and transfer and extent of learning. Undoubtedly, the learning design adopted in physical education should be underpinned by a clear theoretical model reflecting the advancements in motor learning research so that the learning activities are delivered in a sound and functional approach (Davids, Button, & Bennett, 2008).
