ABSTRACT
Much is at stake, our talents are many, yet so little has been done. Worse yet, so little has been attempted. World affairs specialists in most countries lead a rather privileged existence, largely insulated from danger, oppression, poverty and boredom. To be sure, most of us earn these privileges, working diligently and even creatively at our tasks as teachers, researchers and writers, but perhaps we define these tasks too narrowly.
