Comparison between age groups All measurements for %Cir increased with age until U-17 for both GK and FD. Upper-arm and chest Cir for GK and FD, and mid-thigh Cir for FD were developed larger than the hip or calf Cir in O-22 relative to U-13 (Figure 2). Hip, mid-thigh and calf Cir reached levels similar to O-22 at U-17 although upper-arm and chest Cir increased with age until U-22 regardless of position. These results suggest that not only hip and leg but also upper-body muscularity is an important characteristic among professional soccer players.
