The relevance of sports science information to coaches of football and rugby league

INTRODUCTION Sport science research into various areas, e.g. strength and conditioning, psychology, motor skill acquisition, has generated vast quantities of information for sport coaches (Bishop, 2008; Reid et al., 2004; Williams and Kendall, 2007a). Sports scientists claim to make a significant contribution to the body of knowledge that influences athletic practice and performance (Bishop, 2008).
