Charles had a strong relationship with the Salty Snacks buyer at SuperSaver, Alice, who often gave Charles autonomy over making decisions that were best for the category. Because of the overwhelming responsibilities of being a Buyer at a major retailer, it is common for the buyer to lean on their larger vendors for category advice. Charles had a strong track record of making excellent decisions for the category, which had grown 4 % versus prior year, as compared to –1 % at SuperSaver’s major competitor, BullsEye Markets.
