ABSTRACT

The scene for this fictional tale is an advising appointment/tutorial meeting between a university physical education teacher education (PETE) advisor/mentor (Dr S.) and an increasingly disillusioned undergraduate pre-service teacher called Pete. It blends together some of the most important and current themes in physical education, including: the limits of sports-based PE, the interplay of masculinities, the reproductive role of PE teacher education, and the fragility of different visions in our field.
