ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with a short overview of the situation surrounding global careers in Argentina in relation to the social and historical roots of its engagement–disengagement, adjustment–readjustment, and integration–reintegration in the global markets (Black, Mendenhall, & Oddou, 1991). Throughout the chapter, I rely upon cases of individuals who were and are pursuing global careers in that country. I refer to them as “local global careerists,” predominantly, but not exclusively, Argentineans, and “foreign global careerists,” predominantly non-Argentineans.
