ABSTRACT

Considerable research has been carried out to investigate athletes’ physiological reactions to sport performances. Previous chapters have offered insight and given an overview about the progress in this field of research. At the same time, only a few studies have been conducted to understand the effects of sport events on the physiological system of attending spectators. In this chapter we provide a brief outline of the physiological reactions reported as a result of attending sport events. A pilot study of the on-line effects of watching a soccer game on parameters described in earlier chapters of this book is then described and recommendations for future studies given.
