The World Energy Outlook 2010: Where is the world heading after Copenhagen?

This contribution lays out some of the key trends and projections in the energy and transport sectors for the coming 25 years, highlighting the crucial role of these sectors in reducing carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions to mitigate climate change. Drawing to a large extent on the World Energy Outlook (WEO) 2010 of the International Energy Agency (IEA), 1 the contribution considers where the world is heading after Copenhagen – what is required to meet climate objectives and what may be the cost of delayed action.
