ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at organisational strategy from a sustainable business perspective. As organisations involved in event management are as diverse in size and scope as are events themselves, the approach taken here is generic in that it presents strategy concepts that can be applied to almost any organisation regardless of size, structure and industry sector. The approach is also critical in that, as well as presenting mainstream sustainable business narratives, it also challenges these narratives and questions whether they are capable of delivering their claimed sustainability outcomes.
