ABSTRACT

This is an account of a psychotherapeutic group for five children, two girls and three boys aged from 8 to 11 years. It ran, as planned, for a period of one year, once weekly during term time. Attention will be given in roughly equal weight to the group process and to the organisation and the thinking that had to go into the weekly running of the group. There is not the scope here to give anywhere near a full description of the group process. I shall confine myself to mention and illustration of two separate though interlinking themes that dominated the sessions and our thinking as the year unfolded.
