Charlotte Bertha Bühler (1893-1974) deserves an important place in the history of Sandplay because she recognized the potential of using miniatures in a designated space as a diagnostic and research instrument. Using Lowenfeld’s World Technique to develop norms for individual assessment and diagnosis, she created the World Test (later known as the Toy World Test). She also compared how children from various cultures used miniatures within a defined space.
