Introduction

This chapter addresses the topic of contemporary psychological research and the different standpoints from which this is conducted. While much existing literature presents research as being experimental or non-experimental, this introduction examines the similarities in these paradigms, as well as the differences, and shows the potential for multi-method research. The chapter also highlights the debate on the nature of knowledge and how we perceive ourselves and the structures of society.
