Ict in Design and Technology

ByGwyneth Owen-Jackson, Louise Davies

The use of information and communications technology (ICT) is growing rapidly, and in the world of industry and manufacturing it is transforming the way that products are designed and made. If design and technology is to remain relevant and contemporary, then it is important that pupils are taught how ICT has transformed industry, and how they can make use of it when designing and making in the classroom. Many of the pupils that you teach will be familiar with computers and their many uses, and you will be expected to integrate ICT into your lessons to enhance pupil learning. Information technology is not a separate branch of design and technology, it is a tool which everyone can use to make learning more effective.
